Yogi Berra famously quipped once, “it ain’t over, till it’s over.”

Certainly this batch of UK players needs to understand that. Almost all the things being said about this team were said about the 2011 Final Four team.

After all, the 2011 team got into the NCAA tournament with a 25-8 record, but did win the SEC tournament championship.  The difference with this year’s team is that they have no major contributions from a senior at center (Josh Harrellson), or perimeter help from experienced outstanding juniors (see Darius Miller and DeAndre Liggins).

Coach Calipari commented before his teams match-up this year with Florida that, he had ‘18-year-old kids playing against 22 and 23-year-old men.’

Yeah coach, that’s what you get when your team is full of one-and-done’s.

And there’s the rub.

There is not another program in the nation whose fans are as knowledgeable or fanatical as the University of the Kentucky. And don’t forget, as demanding.

They Cats have 3 regular season games remaining before heading south to the Georgia Dome for the 2014 the SEC tournament. The guess here is, they win out. Yes, I think they’ll beat Florida in Gainesville.

My hope is that Florida is still #1 when they do. The last time Florida was #1 Kentucky blasted them right out of the top spot with a 70-55 beat-down at Rupp. It sure would be sweet to do it again, and this time in Gainesville.

After all, it ain’t over till it’s over.

FYI – No one rushed the court after UK beat No. 1 Florida.

  1. Doctor J says:

You didn’t hear the crooning coming from Columbia, SC tonight Steve. Not only did the Fat Lady sing, she did the complete operatic works of Wagner, Mozart, and Verdi. It’s over for the Cats this season…

How did this prediction work out for you?
